Purpose and Description:

To manage/oversee all functions of an entire shift of production. Responsible for coaching and development of employees. Ensure all processes required per customer specifications are being appropriately and efficiently performed with high quality results. To ensure safe operating procedures are being followed.

Major Responsibilities:

• Responsible for coaching, education, and necessary discipline of staff along with related documentation
• Establish training and development plans for employees; coordinate internal and external training
• Assist in hiring process, including orientation and training of new employees
• Ensure operators make quality products as efficiently as possible, adhering to the job instructions and established quality procedures
• Supervise daily work of all staff, assisting in problem solving
• Take immediate steps to remove obstacles and eliminate unnecessary downtime in order to achieve production goals
• Work with Maintenance and Engineering to troubleshoot machines and resolve production and/or quality issues
• Main driver of safety improvements in designated departments. Be an active member of the Safety Committee. Monitor operators to ensure all safety procedures are being followed
• Schedule people and machines based on master schedule provided by Scheduling Department
• Verify materials on production jobs, release all jobs to the floor by machine/department/material etc., daily
• Establish daily, weekly and monthly housekeeping tasks for operators and ensure items are being completed to an acceptable level
• Job closing/completing, (labor, job, qtys, time) work with accounting as needed, weekly

• Consult with other shifts to ensure production handovers are effective
• Analyze production activities, then recommend or implement corrective actions
• Coordinate cross training with the leads on machines, per the business needs
• Maintain daily metrics of production goals vs. achievements; analyze shortfalls and document causes
• Lead 6S in designated departments
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing and 2 years of related experience in a leadership role
• Experience working with HR to effectively manage employees in the areas of training, 1:1s, hiring, terminations, and performance improvement
• Microsoft Office
• ERP experience knowledge in EPICOR a plus
• 6S/lean manufacturing/Kaizen/Material flow
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Possess strong leadership characteristics
• Able to multi-task and react in a fast-paced environment (wear multiple hats, adapt to change fast)
• Able to work under pressure and be consistent in following procedures while still being flexible
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations

• May require occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

• Handling, speaking, hearing, seeing, color vision, depth perception
• Indoor, seasonally air-conditioned and heated, machine shop environment and/or office
• Frequent noise
• Frequent exposure to chemicals, dirt, oils, solvents, paints, dust
• Eye, hand and hearing protection are required in the production area (employer provided)
• Must pass pre-placement drug screen and background check before starting employment
